Welcome to Â鶹ÉçÇø

Â鶹ÉçÇø (MAT) comprises of eight regional alternative provision academies, two medical academies in Devon and Cornwall, and a special academy in Devon for pupils with social communication and interaction needs.

We provide support to enable pupils to reintegrate into mainstream or special schools; or in the last four terms of compulsory education, integration into the world of work or further education.

A Message From Our CEO

We strive to support our pupils to develop into confident, happy, successful young adults who have empathy towards and an understanding of those less fortunate than themselves.

At Â鶹ÉçÇø we actively promote positive, inclusive values. These include democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect for and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs. We believe British values are those values expected of anyone living in Britain, regardless of their nationality, culture or religious belief.

CEO Â鶹ÉçÇø

World Environment Day

At Wave Trust we are committed to our sustainability strategy.

We have a Climate Action Plan in place. We monitor our Carbon Emission Savings – even having a league table for a bit of competition within Wave settings. Who will sit at the top of the table by reducing their emissions the most this year?

We have termly projects – this term it is all about waste management and is being driven by our Eco-Champions. Rethink, reduce, reuse, recycle. Following new legislation, we separate our food waste and have this collected but we are also working on a composting project. Each academy will receive a compost bin kit to build with the pupils. To reduce overall waste all kitchen scraps, peelings, and other compostable materials can be added to the bins and turned regularly to aerate the pile. This will not only reduce food waste but will produce nutrient rich compost. This compost can then be used in the academy gardens to produce fruit and vegetables to use in our cooking lessons. All this fits in nicely with our ongoing healthy school food project.

We have two patches of woodland for the use of our academies in Cornwall & Devon which also helps us offset our carbon footprint. These resources give our pupils the opportunity to learn from and enjoy nature. In Forrest School and Learning Outside of the Classroom we can offer hands-on lessons, building confidence, curiosity and connection with the world.

We always encourage our pupils to take care of our environment, but the litter picking and pollution surveys at the beach this academic year have been a thought-provoking experience.  So much plastic! #BeatPlasticPollution

Let’s take care of and enjoy our environment.

Glendinning Ten Tors Jubilee Challenge

Just a little snippet of the incredible weekend Glendinning Academy had taking part in the Ten Tors Jubilee Challenge in Dartmoor!

The Jubilee Challenge is run alongside the Ten Tors Challenge; it is designed for young people aged between 14 and 21 with a range of physical, neurological or educational needs who complete one of several routes suited to their abilities. See more information about this fantastic event on their website:

For some of our Glendinning pupils it was their third and final year completing challenge, and they received their well-earned gold medal!  For others it was a bronze or silver medal with aspirations to take part again next year. The groups walked either a 9-mile or 11-mile route, which was a huge achievement for all after a cold night in a tent!

Well done everyone, and huge thanks to the staff who gave up their time to support everyone to get to the finish line (and keep them well fed too!).

Â鶹ÉçÇø Sport Experience Day at Plymouth Marjon University

What an experience! Our KS3 pupils had an amazing day of inclusive sport provided by trainee teachers at Plymouth Marjon University on 7 May 2025.

Marjon Teacher Education Partnership, aided by Youth Sport Trust and Wave PE colleagues, provided a valuable opportunity for future teachers to build on their skills. It was a win win as our pupils were inspired by the positive engagement and had great fun being physically active. A fabulous team effort. Here are a few pictures from the event. Thank you all.

VE Day 80th Anniversary Celebrations

VE day 80th Anniversary Celebrations on 8th May 2025 across Wave Trust Academies were wonderful! From remembering those who lost their lives with a minute’s silence to trying on a real gas mask! Building up an appetite with games and activities to get ready to eat a glorious homemade afternoon tea with lashings of lemonade - all while listening to WW2 music. We will remember them.
